10 Things Challenge opportunity

Time for self developmentWhat has changed for you in this strange DC world in which we are living?

That seems like a very odd question indeed as I imagine that pretty much everything has changed. But as usual, questions are simply starting points to a little self exploration. More than ever, this is a time for questioning all the big WHYs in our lives, which often can be the springboard to some self development.

A more pertinent question for this week’s musings on life DC is this:

HOW have YOU changed?

Much of our normal lives has been left behind. Life BC seems increasingly remote and hard to remember. The reality of living like this is sinking in. There are deep wells of fear and anxiety waiting to gobble us up into their murky depths if we allow ourselves to think about life beyond the end of this week and the wide reaching and life altering ramifications of all this.

And yet.

It may be that there is more time and space in your life at present – unless you are a key worker in which case, again my heartfelt thanks and we owe you a huge debt.

What if you are to use this time for some pertinent self development? I offered some pointers towards this last week, and there are some great tips here.

But this week I want to offer something more. …Sign up HERE, read on for more!

A precious coach friend made this comment the other day, that really made me stop short:

This (Covid-19) is an unwelcome interruption in the lives we had happily created for ourselves

What is the life that you had before this unwelcome interruption?

How happy were you with it? And perhaps more importantly, how happy were you with the YOU that was living that life?

10 Things Challenge opportunityAll normal parameters around our lives have been removed. And in so doing, we have an opportunity to start from the beginning and shape our lives more around what is most important to us. To not put back all that was there before, and to keep some of the new rhythms and habits that we have developed DC.

This week, I encourage you to be proactive about your own self development and spend some time considering these questions:

  • What was pre-Covid you like? What has changed? What would you want to change further?
  • What are you seeing and understanding about yourself – both that is good and that which is more difficult?
  • What has surprised you about how you are dealing with this crisis, again both the positive and the more negative?
  • What are you seeing and understanding about your life, and those closest to you – again, both good and more difficult?
  • how will you and the life you live be different AC – after Corona?
  • if you are to use this season as a serious wake up call to live a more intentional life – what changes will you make? Think of all the things that you never get round to doing, those things that you want to do ‘some day’. How has this crisis brought the importance or otherwise of those things into focus?

These are HUGE questions. And one thing about this season is that you might indeed have more time and be inspired to use it for self development.
